PURPOSE OF LATERAL LOAD TEST
Lateral load test provides the relationship between loads – lateral displacement of the pile to determine the lateral load-bearing capacity of the single pile.
METHOD OF LATERAL LOAD TEST
Lateral load test is carried out by applying a lateral load on the pile so that the pile is horizontal displacement. The load is made by a hydraulic jack system operating under a hydraulic pump with the reaction system as kentledge.
Hydraulic jacks are placed horizontally, leaning directly on the test beams, the head lean on the test pile. Hydraulic jacks must be perpendicular to the test pile.
Horizontal displacement of the pile is measured by a dial gauges are located at the top of the pile and symmetrical through the center of the pile, the dial gauges are installed in a frame independent with the test pile.
