PURPOSE OF PLATE LOAD TEST
Plate load test provides information on ground conditions, determine the deformation module E, the ground coefficient Kz and limited load capacity Pl of natural ground soil at the foundation to serve the design, design inspection and construction.
METHOD OF PLATE LOAD TEST
Plate load test is carried out by the method of holding each load level until meet the designed request or the ground is destroyed.
Plate load test is conducted by static load test method, using steel plate which has the thickness ensures the necessary hardness in loading process, the loading force is always vertical with the ground surface and maintained continuous during testing. The hardness of steel plate is assumed to be absolute hard, without deformation with the largest test load.
The loading method is carried out as follows: Reaction system is a steel beam system combined with kentlegde which is calculated enough bearing capacity and no deformation during testing. The entire system loads to the steel plate through a hydraulic jack system, the jack can change the load on the steel plate via hydraulic pump. Thereby, the settlement of the foundation is determined through the settlement of the steel plate measured by the dial indicator system directly attached to the steel plate.
