In the morning of 6th July, 2011, Saigontourist Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the 5-star Majestic Hotel, at 6 Nguyen Hue Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee – Nguyen Thi Hong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism – Ho Anh Tuan, General Director of Tourism – Nguyen Van Tuan and representatives of departments City.
The project is in the key investment project of Saigontourist in the development strategy for the period of 2011-2015 with a total investment of about 1,900 billion VND, expected to be completed by the end of 2014. When building, Saigontourist will retain existing Majestic hotel blocks continue to do business, and at the same time build 2 new towers of 24 floors and 27 floors, with hotel rooms will be up to 350 rooms so that the total number of Majestic hotel rooms to both old and new is 540 rooms. When putting into operation, this will be one of the most large-scale 5-star hotel complexes in the city, providing a full range of high-class, luxurious and differentiated services, bringing the ancient architecture in harmony with contemporary sustainable architecture in the world.
Reportedly, the 5-star Majestic hotel was built in the center of Saigon since 1925, in 2007 the hotel was ranked 5-star by the Tourism Administration. The hotel currently has 175 rooms with restaurants, meeting rooms, swimming pools … and is one of the oldest architectural hotels in the city.
To implement the 5-star Majestic Hotel expansion project, Saigontourist Corporation has chosen to cooperate with the leading reputable units in the construction field: Design Consultant – DWP Company, Supervision Consultant – Dien Phong Company and the construction unit of the pile testing item – Consultancy for Construction, Geotechnics and Environment Company (COGECO).
